With the growing sense of safety and protection he provides her, Neryn can’t help but surrender to the change of feelings taking hold of her. So that was frustrating. The book is more internal and personal struggle-driven than moved by action or adventure – though there are incidences of both throughout – and Neryn’s wide-eyed acceptance of whatever is most recently told to her can get a bit wearying. I think most will feel the start is slow, but I find this an eminently easy read that’s comfortable and enveloping to step into. Will hunt these down.
I don’t wish that on anyone. View all 10 comments.
The book might have shsdowfell if I had connected with the protagonist, but I had absolutely no sympathy for her. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Juliet Marillier book captivate me as much as Shadowfell did.
